According to CNN, the Middletown police have searched the gunman's motel room, which led to the concerns that he is targeting Wesleyan and/or its Jewish community:
Concern for the Wesleyan community and the Jewish community "developed out of evidence that the police may have gotten when they executed search warrants on his car, on the motel room he was staying in," [Middletown mayor Sebastian] Giuliano said.
The article does not say whether this is related to the scene at the motel on Washington St. last night.
